Thanksgiving weekend

We had a great long Thanksgiving weekend, spent with family and friends. Activities including eating delicious food, practicing hand stands with Aunt Betsy, sliding down the banister at my parents' :0, going for a walk in the woods, and taking over my iPad...:)

I love 4 day weekends!!

P.S. Don't forget to vote for me on Top Mommy Blogs by clicking on the brown banner above. That's all you have to do to vote, and you can do it once a day. thanks! xoxoxox

Thanksgiving Day recap

One of the best parts of our Thanksgiving this year is that my sister and BIL are visiting here from Colorado! Since we rarely get to have all the family together in one place, we decided to take some family pictures.
Miss E and I and our electronics.
Of course, once I downloaded some games for her on my iPad and let her use it, the kids' vtech player I got her last summer was completely abandoned. Side note: I bought my iPad about two weeks ago and I LOVE it...I want to marry it...:)
E and I also hung out for a bit at our friends' house, who live just down the street from my parents.
It was a fabulous day. And on a totally unrelated note, I will not be stepping on the scale today...;)

How to cook Squash

Today, Elizabeth brought home a booklet with recipes for Thanksgiving dinner, made by each of the students in her class. It was about the best, funniest thing I've read in a long time. Elizabeth's contribution was a recipe for Squash:

"Get a squash at the store in an aisle; aisle nine. Take it to your house. Put it in your refrigerator. Make it squishy by mashing it with a spoon or something. Cook it by putting it on the stove and waiting for it."

Sounds good to me! :)

Ten things I'm grateful for

Since it's November, I thought I'd make a list of things I'm thankful for...

1) My daughter is healthy and happy :)

2) My job (I complain about having to work full time, but I know I am lucky, lucky to have a stable job with good benefits)

3) My incredibly awesome family and friends (seriously, they are the best...)

4) Hot coffee on a chilly fall morning

5) The election is almost over (!!!)

6) NPR (I drive a lot for my job, so NPR is a life saver)

7) Social Media (yeah, I'm addicted...)

8) I get lots of great hand-me-down clothes for Elizabeth from various friends- awesome!

9) I get to be a Mom :)

10)My new incredibly soft, cozy bathrobe  that I bought at Tarjay

Hello!

Wow, it's been a little while...So...just to catch this blog up a bit...

* I went to to Texas for 5 days to visit my friend Chris, who I've known for 23 years, but haven't seen in over 9! Without Elizabeth! It was a great trip, very relaxing. It is seemed so easy to travel by myself! And I slept til 10:30 one morning...can't remember the last time I did that, it was pure heaven...As for Miss E, she did great with Maria. We spoke a couple of times each day on the phone, and she was fine. I missed her way more than I thought I would. We were very happy to see each other when I got home. :)

*Elizabeth and I are going to San Diego in August!! I am sooooo excited! My brother had some award miles he passed on to my mom, who passed them on to me. Thanks Mom and John!! We are only going for a few days, but it will be such fun to see all our friends there, go to my favorite beach ever- La Jolla Shores- and see Elizabeth's little sister, I hope!

*I'm looking forward to a nice Thanksgiving with the fam at my parents' house. Love short work weeks :)

Not much else new at the moment. Here are just a few pics of Elizabeth in the playroom after Church this morning...Sorry they aren't the greatest...
