Abandoned blog by the side of the road

Wow. I have never gone this long without blogging! To be honest, I really want to keep this blog going, but I just haven't been feeling motivated to actually sit down and post.

Things are good here. Elizabeth likes school, and being in first grade. She seems to really like her teacher, too. Homework, however is a different story. You know how there are some little kids who get all excited about doing homework because it makes them feel grown up? Yeah, Elizabeth is not one of them. Let's just say that she's not a fan. And in the time she spends arguing, and complaining about having to do it, she could already have had it done. Ugg...

E is playing soccer again this season. This will probably be the last time I sign her up for it, though, because she doesn't really love it. She says she wants to do ice skating again this winter, so I will look into that for her. I will miss her playing soccer, though. I really like watching her games and hanging out with the other parents (Hi Ev!) :)

In other news, I start a new job tomorrow, which I am very excited about!! I've spent the past 5 months in a job that was just...not a good match for me...I think I will just leave it at that. (I never set foot in the state of Maine all Summer, but I'm not bitter...) Anyway, I am looking forward to better things ahead. I will say that this opportunity could not have come soon enough for me. I am excited, but a little nervous too. This is my second job change in a year, and I just want so badly for this to work out. It has been a rough year for me career-wise. I have a really good feeling about this though, so I am optimistic.

And here are a few pics from the past few weeks...

Ok, that's it for now. I promise to be back again very soon!

Class field trip (that I didn't get to go on)

Yesterday, my girl's class went on a field trip to Davis Farms. I didn't get to go as a chaperone, but Maria did:) It was hot out! Yes, in typical New England style, we jumped from 55 degree weather to 90 degree weather overnight.

Maria stayed over at our house the night before so she and Miss E could get to school bright and early for the big day...

There was a splash park at the zoo!

Looks like it was a great day! Thanks for braving the heat, Maria, and chaperoning. I know it meant a lot to Elizabeth (and to me)!

Here is the part where I confess to having some jealousy and some mommy guilt that I didn't go. Being just one month into a new job makes it hard to take any time away. I've been working some long hours, which is good for my job performance, but not always so good for my mommy performance. I look back over the past year and I have in no way been as involved with E's class as I wanted or planned to be. Hopefully next year when she's in first grade (!!!!!) I'll be more settled in this job and will be able to do more in the classroom.

Some fall fun

Today Elizabeth and I both had the day off for Columbus Day, so we got together with our friends Misty and Paden for some fall fun at a nearby farm. There were lots of cool things to do, like...

Pick a Pumpkin

Climb and run on the hay

Feed the animals

Go for a hay ride (even better if done while eating a warm apple sugar doughnut :)

My little goofball and me :)

 Drive a mini tractor

Our two cuties on the ride home...

It was such a fun day, and it was so nice to have a long weekend. I had a great time hanging with my girl :) Love you sweetie pie!

P.S.: People, people...we need to talk...I'm slipping in the ranks :0 Pretty please vote for me on Top Mommy Bloggers by clicking on the brown banner above. You can do this once a day...pleeeeze??
Thanks!! xoxoxox

Rainy Sunday at the farm

This afternoon after Church, Elizabeth and I went with my Mom to a local farm, where they had a small petting zoo. Even though it was a little drizzly out, we had a good time :)
