Mommy's b-day

Elizabeth, Carol and MaryAnn helped me celebrate my birthday last Thu. night. Thank you girls, it was fun!!!
On another note, just finished watching the Oscars. Is it just me, or was this the most boring Oscars ever...Maybe it's because I haven't seen a single one of the movies that was nominated. Whatever, but bring back Billy Crystal, I say!!

Important question

Ok, this question is for all of you moms out there reading this, in particular all you single working moms. My question is: How do I have a happy kid, be a good employee, and keep a clean house ALL AT THE SAME TIME??? I have the happy kid, which of course is the most important thing. However, I need to be a good employee in order to feel good about myself and keep my job. (I might want to cut down on the blogging at 4pm on a Thursday afternoon, then).
I also need to live in a clean home. So if anyone out there has managed to accomplish all three of these things at the same time, please tell me your secret!! Or if you haven't, comiserate with me so I don't feel like such a loser!!

Miscellaneous stuff

It was so wonderful to have a three day week-end... On Monday, Elizabeth and I went to a great little Mexican restaurant nearby for lunch with some friends. It was fun!! "Going out to lunch with the ladies is hard work!"

Let me tell you, after having a nice long week-end with to be Elizabeth full-time, it was so hard to drop her off at Day Care this morning and not be with her all day. Tonight, to ease the pain of going back to work, Aunties Julie and Linda (who is visiting all the way from San Mateo!) came over for a visit, and even brought with them a delicious dinner and birthday cake and presents! I'm in total denial about turning "the F-word" later this week, but I'll take cake and presents anytime :)

"I just met Linda yesterday, but I like her!!"

Linda made a beautiful new cushion for the rocking chair in Elizabeth's room. And Julie fixed a delicious dinner for us and gave me two gorgeous tops. Thank you so much ladies, we love you!

Wow!!!!

Yesterday UPS delievered a HUGE box from my mom to Elizabeth and me. It was all the presents we received at our long distance baby shower last week in Massachussetts. All I can say is, wow...I am so overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and generosity of my mom and her friends. It is so obvious how much love went into each gift for my little girl. Here are a few pics of Elizabeth and I diving into the goodies.

Wednesday afternoon, just hangin' out...

We are home this afternoon waiting for the repairman to come install a new range, since my oven and two of the burners aren't working. Elizabeth is also going to be picked up by her socialworker in a little while for a visit with her birth parents. Hope I survive it...!

Here's just a little Elizabeth cuteness, happy day before Valentine's day everyone!

Our first swim class!!

We had our first Mommy and me swim class at the Y this morning. So much fun. Elizabeth loved it, she splashed and kicked and was so relaxed in the water! I enjoyed meeting some other moms, and dads, too.

Long distance baby shower

On Friday, mom and her friends back in Winchester, MA threw a baby shower for Elizabeth and me! I was so bummed not to be able to be there for it, but mom sent me some great pictures. Sure looks like those ladies had fun!! As you can see in some of the pics, they had a blown up picture of Elizabeth's face and attached it to a doll. Too funny :)

Thank you so much, ladies!! I'm so sorry Elizabeth and I could not be there.

Miss G strikes again!

Elizabeth's Day Care provider once again reduced me to tears by making my baby girl look like a...toddler!!!! She is so beautiful and adorable I can't stand it!!! :) Ugg... don't you hate it when moms brag about their kids?

Week-end update

Thanks to a generous gift card from John and Luiza, Elizabeth has a new dresser, which she desperately needed. Since the dresser came from IKEA, I got the fun job of putting it together!

Here's the before picture:

4 hours and 2 beers later...

Ta Da!! Yay me, I did it!!

Luckily, Julie came over and entertained Elizabeth while I did this all Saturday afternoon!

Here we are on Sunday, all ready for the big game. We had such high hopes.

I guess we all know how that turned out...

"Hmmm...I'll get you Eli Manning, if it's the last thing I do..."
