Elizabeth is VERY attached to her pink "blankey." I really don't mind, actually I think it is sort of cute :) However, her day care provider keeps trying to get me to wean her off of it. She says that Elizabeth is too dependent on it, and that it will be more traumatic later on trying to get rid of it. My feeling is, Elizabeth is 14 months old. If she wants her "blankey", she should have it. It's a blanket for God's sake, it's not crack. It gives her comfort, and that's good enough for me.
So what do you guys think? Am I spoiling her or "babying" her too much?

Well, I don't have kids, but it seems natural to be very attached to a security item when you are that young. You may run into problems with Blankey getting really dirty, torn, or lost. So, you may want to make Blankey rules for this reason. Could she bring another doll with her to daycare instead? Just a thought.
Your daycare provider has NO RIGHT to tell you how to parent! F her. I'm mad. You are the best parent. You know how important healthy attachment is for a child ... You are so RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT and she is sooooo WRONG! A good book along those lines .... OWEN by Keven Henkes. Ok .. maybe you didn't know this about me ... I still had my blankie when I went to college, as did my sister, Ginger. Did we bring them to classes? No! Did I bring to my first job interview? No! Am I a healthy, well adjusted adult .. most of the time. My sister, Heather's solution to the possiblity of losing .. have an identical backup, if possible. But you know what, she will be able to handle it if it does get dirty, lost - bec. you are an awesome parent and you will help her work through it, if it happens. Happy Monday .... H
Nope, it's normal and healthy to have a comfort item. You get to pick. You're the mommy. A teacher made a comment about Eliza sucking her thumb a week or so ago. I made it clear that I didn't mind at all. I sucked my thumb and had a blankie until I was five. I think I turned out okay!
I say let her keep that blanket! (And check out the book "Owen" by Kevin Henkes.) :)
