My shy little girl
So, I just had a long talk with my Day Care provider when I dropped Elizabeth off this morning. She said that Elizabeth is very smart, and well behaved there. She also said, which I knew, that Elizabeth still prefers to play by herself, rather than with the other kids. My impression has always been that Elizabeth is a bit stand-offish with everyone there. That hasn't really changed in the 7 months she has been at this Day Care. The Day Care provider assured me that she does play, and sing and dance, and doesn't cry except for a specific reason. She eats and sleeps there fine. She doesn't seem unhappy, just kind of shy. I think it's a good Day Care, I just feel like Elizabeth has never totally warmed up to it. She is very attached to me, and it breaks my heart to have to put her in Day Care 9 hours a day when I know she she would rather be home with me. Sigh...I knew when I signed on to this "single mom" gig that it would be hard, but this feels REALLY hard. I love her so much, and if I could quit this job today, I would.

The weekend is here - hopefully you are almost done working (if you haven't snuck out early). After this adoption is final, and before you adopt another baby (yeah, I know you're thinking about it), how about we google "adopt a husband"! Maybe just a cyber husband .. that works so you can stay home, can handle late night feedings & awakenings and take over at fussy time!
I felt the same way when Eliza was Elizabeth's age. It was like torture to drop Eliza off at daycare. Then something happened...she became 2.5 and started to LOVE school. She loves all of the art projects, friends, outside playtime! She is really happy to go and misses it if we have a long break. It will get better, if that's any consolation. (and I'm not looking forward to leaving a tiny baby again...maybe it will be easier the 2nd time around)
Chloe really seems to like her daycare, but she is very much the same way...shy and rather standoffish. I think it's OK. She may blossom a bit later on, and then again, it may be a personality thing. Time will tell...
