Who is that big kid?

So today Elizabeth spent the day at her Afterschool program at the Y, since school was closed again to clean up after the Blizzard. When I went to pick her up this afternoon, I peeked in the window that looked down into the rock wall room, where I knew her group was today. It didn't take me long to spot her, but wow...she just looks so huge!

It kind of takes my breath away, how fast it's all going...

Scenes from the long blizzardy weekend

Saturday night, after it stopped snowing, we went out for a little walk. There was lots (and lots) of snow. Everywhere.

Some shaving cream fun...I remembered using shaving cream back in my days as a preschool teacher and knew E would like it. She did. :)

Today was sunny and gorgeous. Perfect day for sledding and shoveling.

Took me quite a while to dig out my car, but I did it!

E's buddy from school came over for a while this afternoon to go sledding.

Did I mention there was a lot of snow? Everywhere?

We had a really nice long weekend. E has had a cold, so she was sort of low energy much of the time. We spent a lot of time just hanging out inside, playing games and watching movies. School is closed again tomorrow, but luckily her Afterschool program will be open all day, so she will go there, since I have to work.

Blizzahd!

Well, the forecasters got it right this time, we woke up this morning to 18 + inches of snow and lots of wind....

It started snowing yesterday afternoon. School and my work had already been cancelled in anticipation of the storm. I took E to the McDonalds play place for a little while before it got bad out. I figured we should get out while we still could, since I wasn't sure how long we'd be cooped up at home. She had fun there and made a quick friend. :)

We spent the rest of the day at home, playing games, drinking coffee (me) and watching Disney World videos on You Tube (her).

This morning we ventured out briefly in the snow...

Yeah...the pool was closed, in case anyone was wondering...

She only lasted about 5 minutes before asking to come inside...my little San Diego girl isn't a big fan of the cold and wind. :0

Happy Mom

I just had a parent-teacher conference with E's teacher, and it went great. Her teacher her is sooo dedicated and enthusiastic, she is genuinely bummed out that tomorrow will most likely be a snow day (Boston is supposed to get like 2 feet of snow over Friday and Saturday....o.m.g.), Anyway, it just makes me feel so good that Elizabeth loves school and is doing so well, and has a teacher who loves the kids and her job. :)

Very proud of my little star. xoxoxox

Glad I went to the grocery store yesterday. I just drove past it, and it looked nuts.. And now, let the storm hype begin!

Top Mommy Blogs

I've fallen waaaaay down in the ranks...Please vote for me in Top Mommy Blogs by clicking on the brown banner above. That's all you have to do to vote for me, and you can do it once a day. :)

Elizabeth says Thank you! xoxoxox

She did it!

E has decided she was ready to get her ears pierced. So Saturday afternoon, we went to the mall and had it done. E was nervous, but determined to do it. And she did!

I was so proud of my brave girl, she rocked it! I think she was pretty proud of herself, too:) She held my hand during, and didn't cry at all. I tried to get her to pick her birthstone for her earrings, but she wanted purple, so she actually picked mine, Amethyst. Of course I forgot my phone in the car, so no pics of the actual event, but here she is above as soon as we got to the car (after celebrating with some Fried Rice for lunch). xoxoxox

Random stuff in bullets

Elizabeth got her first ever report card today! She did great in most areas, just "needs improvement" in her handwriting, which her teacher and I have had several conversations about over the past few months

I stink at Letter Press, a game which I play on the iPad with my brother and sister. They beat me every.time.

Isabella the male Elephant Ear Betta fish is still alive and kicking (swimming) after almost two weeks home (that has to be some kind of record for me...my track record with keeping fish alive is not good...)

I'm wishing that E and I could go somewhere warm and sunny over her school vacation later this month, but will settle for maybe a nearby indoor water park

Tonight, while I was reading her a bedtime story, E stroked my face gently and said in this concerned little voice, "Mommy, you're getting old." Nice, thanks, E!

Today was pajama day at E's school, very exciting! We both thought it was pretty cool that she didn't have to get dressed this morning!
