Ouch

Well, today Elizabeth cried for the first time when I left her at Day Care...On the one hand, that is a positive thing; it's normal for her age and shows that our attachment is on track. But on the other hand...ouch...I wanted to just scoop her up and take her home, but I was good and told her I loved her and that I'd be back to get her, and then left. I don't want to be one of those moms who feeds into the crying and hangs out until the child is hysterical.
I'm so happy we have a long week-end!!!

You know, I was at the doctor's office this morning for my annual check-up and a Mom left her child in the waiting room with the babysitter and when the Mom left the room, the baby cried really hard. The babysitter started reading him a story and he was happy within 20 seconds of her leaving. So they get over it pretty fast!

It's harder on you than it is on her...at least that's what everybody tells me. :)

Hooray for long weekends!

Yep in my experience, crying when you drop them off occasionally happens through preschool and it makes you feel horrible. But I'll bet she's happy once you are out of sight and she's redirected. If you are ever particularly concerned for whatever reason (she's not feeling well, didn't sleep well the night before, teething, etc), you should be able to call back to the daycare/school and ask how Elizabeth is doing.
